What am I about?

How would you explain yourself to others?

Oh boy, grab a chair! I believe that the purpose of life is to enjoy the experiences. I take any opportunity to learn about the world we live in, the people I share it with and myself. Is it possible to be intense and laid back? That would be me. There are three main areas of my life: relationships, activities and production.

Relationships
I spend time with people that intrigue me, make me laugh, motivate me, listen to me and make me feel like I reciprocate these things for them. I am not into spending time with people that take themselves too seriously, or are oblivious to the other people or things in the world. I don't have time for that!

Activities
I am an outdoors-man. I love to get out there and see the world in it's natural state, feel rain on my body, breath fresh air and swim in natural water. This is another reason for us to move to another country. To experience something new. I love to read adventure novels from authors like Tom Brown Jr. and William O. Douglas. I like adventure movies and nature photographers. I love learning about plants and animals. I love survival texts. I like get places under my own power weather biking, hiking, snowshoeing, boating, etc. When you get yourself somewhere it is slow so you see more. It really puts distance into perspective. And it also improves work ethic, keeps you fit, and allows you eat whatever you want. That creates a great segue into production.

Production
This is where the magic happens. When you make something you learn about the world, about yourself and about the people in your life. What do I mean by production? I mean production in the simplest of terms; making something. This could be anything from knitting, welding, carpentry, writing, cooking, gardening, to making babies! The things that I have learned about my wife, friends, or family usually occur while producing something. Lets look at the most basic every day production of a meal. There is a reason why the kitchen is the center of action in a home. That is where things happen. That is where you learn things about the cook, or about those being cooked for. I believe the more involved to project the more there is to soak up. Staying with the food idea; you won't learn much watching someone make a bowl of cereal but, if you help someone make thanksgiving dinner you will see what I mean. Notice I said help, and not watch the game in the living room while someone else cooks. You would have learned more making cereal! I believe that if you aren't getting your hands dirty you are not living. Long sleeve shirts should always be rolled up!

That about sums me up. Check out the Production page to learn more about me.
